The standard of squash on for all the Finals matches was high and our congratulations go out to our Champion for 2016, Brian Healy. The final was superb, both Brian and Philip played out some jaw dropping rallies, providing the gallery with inspiration and leaving some questioning the laws of physics.

Other highlights included Mike Ryan staying  focused to win his duel with Ian O'Brien in the A Plate final. A return to form from Mike who has played some great squash over the season and is a deserved winner.

Tim McCarthy evened the score with the ever present Rob Holland after he was beaten by him in the Highfield Open B final earlier in the season finally winning the CC B final at the 3rd time of asking. Hearty congrats Timmy.

Larry Burn's direct hard-hitting squash brought him gladiatorial victory in the Men's C Final, a convincing win - but credit to Dan who reached the final and is continuing to brush off the rust, his squash is starting to shine once again.

Eoin Murphy triumphed and was patient in claiming his D final victory. His squash like several of the juniors who played in the competition including Jack Doherty and Caoimhe Nolan is coming on in leaps and bounds.Sophie O'Rourke leads the way in what is possible at the age of 15 and is breaking new ground almost daily. Another junior deserves a mention, Barry Lynch won the Highfield Open earlier in the year and his 5th place finish in the Men's A competition this season comes as no surprise... he continues to walk his walk !

Another great season - take it away Arthur

We are the music makers, And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers, And sitting by desolate streams;—
World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers, Of the world for ever, it seems.

Arthur O'Shaughnessy's verse from Ode - 1873.

Well done everyone!
Regards
Ciarán Malkin - Tournament Director.
